In Japanese Acupuncture, an Oshide provides a bio-feedback system for people to feel if energy is going through the needle then into the point, or coming out of the point and the top of the needle. These techniques are called tonification and reduction (harmonization).
In using an oshide for acupuncture, I was taught to visualize a circle for tonification. For reducing symptoms like pain, infection, and stagnation of energy, I was taught to visualize a square. One day I realized these images to be very true, so we painted them as a teaching on oshide and visualization on needle techniques.
